Local City Councilors and Development Review staff fail to implement any of the directions that community members of Little Jamaica receive fair treatment and a meaningful role in the development of a Stakeholder Advisory Committee to guide the planning of our neighbourhood.
Numerous informal requests, two formal complaints, 2 community letters, and a petition signed by 208 people have been filed since April 2026 - in attempt to have City staff work reflect Council directions and human rights obligations as defined by the City. Community is continuing to organize and advance it's priorities to direct investment to address residential and commercial tenant displacement, systemic anti-Black racism, and the cultural and socio-economic impacts of government decisions that have enabled these conditions.
